Am I the only one who has...

locked their kids in the car?! So we went to the store today and I must have had something on my mind because I totally went out of my little routine of getting the kids and diaper bag out of the car. And stupid me put everything in the diaper bag (phone and keys) locked my door (I think I pushed the button with my elbow as I was getting out of the car or something) and shut my door. Instantly I realized "Shoot I am an idiot I locked my kids in the car". So I got the cart boys attention he let me borrow his cell phone and I called my mother in law. I knew she had triple A and that would help me out. She called them and they said they would be 30 min. So my mother in law decided to call the police. While this is going on Ethan has fallen asleep in his car seat and Chase is so sad crying "help me please mommy...out" I was trying so hard not to cry to his little helpless pleads. People were staring at me while I was talking to my tinted windows trying to calm him down. My mother in law calls my cart boy back and tells him she has called the police and they will be there in a little bit. Next thing I know I hear sirens...hoping and praying that they were not for me. The sirens get closer and closer...next thing I know the big fire truck with its loud sirens blaring were right behind my car. They turn off their sirens and get out and rush over to the car and start trying to pry the door open. Now I have everyone's attention in the parking lot and people stepping out of the store to see what is going on. Chase has now stopped crying and is totally focused on these 5 firemen trying to get him out. Finally the doors open the kids are checked out and then the police come...if things couldn't get any worse...they do a report. I first asked the fireman if the sirens were really necessary...now I am asking the police man if I am getting CPS called out on me. Man what a day. Finally when everyone left and the fire men gave Chase a fire man hat, I cried. I was so embarrassed. I left the store and did not do my shopping. I called Curtis and being the great husband he is told me not to worry about it everyone is safe and all good and lucky for me it was only 70 degrees outside. I felt like a horrible mother as these people were coming up to me and asking me what I did. But Curtis reassured me that I am not THAT bad of a mother...ha ha. So that is my horrible story of the day. lesson learned...keep keys in hand at all time when kids in car...

I'm sure you'll laugh about this one someday. :) I have another friend who did the same thing just a few weeks ago so you're not alone!

You are the BEST mom ever! Don't worry about it. I am surprised it hasn't happened to me yet. And Chase got a fire man hat out of it. Best day ever for him!

You're so not the only one as I've locked the keys in our car with Maddie before as well, but was lucky to have Jerry able to bring the other set of car keys within minutes. Embarrassing just dealing with that ourselves, but goodness... you had to deal with sirens blaring, people staring and being insensitive, sweet Chase crying... I'm so sorry, that totally stinks, and I'm teary just reading about your day! I love you and think you are an Awesome Mom, truly!!!
